FKM - Fluororubber

FKM - Fluororubber

Because of their wide range of compounding possibilities, FKM materials from Freudenberg Process Seals offer great flexibility to suit the respective customer-specific application.

Within FKM compounding, copolymers, terpolymers and tetrapolymers can be manufactured with structures and fluorene contents between 65% and 71% to precisely meet the needs of the application. This means that FKM can be structured precisely to meet the individually required media stability and cold flexibility. An advantage which reliably covers applications in the food and pharmaceutical industry in particular, with processes at up to more than +140°C and aggressive media which materials such as EPDM or HNBR are no match for.

General properties:

  • Excellent temperature resistance
  • High chemical stability
  • Very good ozone, weather, aging and oxygen stability
  • Excellent resistance in mineral oils and fats
  • Low gas permeability
  • Very good resistance in non-polar media
  • Temperature range from –15 °C to +200 °C, special types from –35 °C to +200 °C

Suitable applications for FKM in:

  • Animal and vegetable fats, oils and waxes
  • Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons
  • Essential oils
  • High temperature ranges
  • CIP /SIP media for continuous operations in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries
