When conveying liquids with piston pumps, high pressures can be reached which need to be securely sealed in with effective seals.
Using a piston that runs in a cylinder, in a piston pump, the medium to be conveyed is initially sucked in through the intake valve before it is pushed back out of the discharge valve. A piston pump is made up of at least one cylinder with one piston, an inlet and an outlet as well as two valves and is used in the areas food, beverages and pharmaceuticals as well as in the chemical industry. As the volume of liquid conveyed in the piston pump can be determined extremely accurately, this is the type of pump preferentially used for dosing.
Pistons and rods can be ideally sealed with Freudenberg Process Seals grooved rings made of elastomer or PTFE. For pumps that run slowly, O-rings can also be used. For high pressure pumps, V-Seal Set packings or stuffing box packings from our comprehensive range of products are available.
