Solutions for PET stretch blow molding machines

In recent years, drinks are increasingly being filled into PET bottles, the filling process for which is immediately preceded by the bottle production in stretch blow molding machines. Special seals which are particularly temperature-resistant provide reliable security for these processes.

In most cases, PET bottles are not supplied to the drinks production sites, such as breweries or soft drink plants, but are manufactured directly before filling using stretch blow molding machines. For this purpose, the PET molding blank is preheated in an infrared section, is fed into the blow mold and simultaneously inflated with compressed air of up to 40 bar, after which it is cooled. The finished bottle can then be filled directly with the drink.

As the plants fill up to 78,000 bottles an hour, the stretch blow molding machines are designed as carousel-type machines. Only with this type of construction is it possible to realize the machine performance required. This makes it even more important that seals are of the required quality, to ensure the processes in this high performance production run smoothly. Freudenberg Process Seals makes special designs available for this which have no problem with the extreme accelerations in the carousel-type machines, the high pressures changes during the blow-molding process as well as the temperatures of the heated PET.
