Solutions for filter systems

Filter systems or elements are used in almost all areas in the processing industry for filtering liquid products or cleaning agents. Sealing elements made by Freudenberg Process Seals are used here in valves and on filter panels.

Coarse contamination in process engineering production is initially filtered out of the materials in separators or decanters. In contrast, the fine suspended particles in medium or byproducts of the process (e.g. yeast in beer) need to be separated out using filter systems. In plants that are not run continuously, the filter panels are removed and cleaned by hand. By contrast, large plants in the food industry are cleaned by backwashing without being disassembled and valves are used to control this process. This process gives rise to two completely different sealing applications:

  • There needs to be a seal between all the actual filter panels or disks, between them and the spacer plates and between them and the housing. As a general rule, large O-rings or molded parts are used for this. Freudenberg Process Seals offers these in the shape of compression-molded seals. For large filtering systems made of panels with diameters of greater than 500 mm, profiles are extruded - particularly cost-effectively without tooling costs - and are vulcanized at the joint.
  • For the controls and fittings in filter systems (valves, sensors, fittings etc.) the product spectrum covers a number of valve seals which are designed precisely to meet the needs of the various applications.
